Hi Guys/Gals,

I'm running X on a Dell Latitude C610 and can use "xset -display :0 dpms force off" to turn off the screen and I'd like to do the same when I close the laptop lid.

My acpi script in /etc/acpi/lidbtn.sh is being kicked off successfully but the X server is denying the connection from xset.

If I su to root I can run the xset command just fine, and I use exactly the same command in the lidbtn.sh script. running "xhost +" will allow the lidbtn.sh xset to connect, but I don't want my display that accessible. I've tried xhost +localhost but that doesn't work, and neither does xhost +daikini (my hostname). Only "xhost +" allows the connection from the acpi run script.

Has anyone run into something like this before?

Thanks,

Anthony.

Try,

Code:

xhost +local:

What user are you running your ACPI script as? If it's a non-root user, say ACPI, then you can also try,

Code:

xhost +acpi

xhost supports both user names and host names.
