my wireless card can find my AP, but can not connect it . How to know if this is a hard problem or soft problem ? thanks
another computer can connect to the AP , so it is not my AP problem. _________________ i5-2450M, gnome, amd64

Assuming that your wireless interface is called wlan0, type
iwconfig
To find out. If it's anything else than wlan0, substitute the below wlan0 with your interface his name.
Does your AP use encryption? If yes, try to start wpa_supplicant like so:
wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dwext -B
Then do:
wpa_cli scan
wpa_cli scan_results
You should see your network in the list. If not, that might mean it's hidden. Then you need to manually add your network to wpa_supplicant.conf so that your wireless equipment can do a 'direct probe'.
If your AP does not use encryption, do this:
iwconfig wlan0 scan
Then your wireless should show up, if not hidden .
