Does anyone know what Gentoo's kernel upgrade policy is (or if there is one)?
lkml.org says that 2.6.30.9 will be the final stable kernel in the 2.6.30 series -
is it likely there will be a gentoo-sources package for it, or has everyone moved
on to 2.6.31?
Thanks - Will |

There are still gentoo-sources maintained for 2.6.27, so, usually, kernels are supported until upstream development moves on. |

In general, the gentoo devs follow the patches from the kernel folks and integrate them in a timely manner. After a period of testing they move from ~arch branches to the stable branch.
Just an FYI - The latest stable gentoo-sources release is 2.6.30-gentoo-r6, which includes the patches up to 2.6.30.5. -r7, which is still ~arch, includes 2.6.30.6 and 2.6.30.7. |
