No video

Hi i have just installed Gentoo. But i now have the problem that when i try to boot, i get the Grub boot menu, but that's all. After choosing to start Linux i just get a blank screen with very little flicker on it. What can that be?

Framebuffer selects the wrong resolution/refresh-rate. If you have the possiblilty, try without framebuffer (as in video=normal)

first of all, you should "manually" start the kernel (by pressing c -> selecting kernel and boot-options) and append video=normal at the end.

then if you are successful, you have to edit menu.lst in /boot/grub/ for future use.

As I am using elilo/lilo, I can only help you this far, how commandline in grub works, you will surely find enought documentation and you will need some "try and fail" affinity.
