I haven't used Gentoo for about a year. Today I was reinstalling Gentoo, I had some problems downloading gentoo-sources with Portage from the stable tree (Portage couldn't apply the last patch, it didn't give any error, it just stalled while applying the patch) so I jumped into ~x86. The kernel downloaded some errors but finally installed in /usr/src. I configured and compiled the kernel and apparently it worked fine. Next I'm trying to install Xorg, it breaks when it tries to install eselect-python, googling around I found that it uses Autogen but doesn't depends on it. Now, I'm trying to install Autogen, it downloads and compiles just fine but during installation but it stops at
Code:
+ rm -rf libopts-32.0.7
, it doesn't show an error or anything, it just stops. I left it there for about 10 hours, didn't help.

Any idea?
Is there any way I can install the stable kernel rather than the ~x86 one?

Thanks!

Can you post your emerge --info? What happens if you revert to stable and do a:

Code:
emerge --sync &&  emerge gentoo-sources?

Can you post the error message?

My use flags list is much shorter.

My main problem right now is trying to install autogen, it stops like this
Code:

libopts-32.0.7/time.c
libopts-32.0.7/usage.c
libopts-32.0.7/version.c
libopts-32.0.7/parse-duration.c
libopts-32.0.7/parse-duration.h
libopts-32.0.7/COPYING.gplv3
libopts-32.0.7/COPYING.lgplv3
libopts-32.0.7/COPYING.mbsd
libopts-32.0.7/README
libopts-32.0.7/MakeDefs.inc
libopts-32.0.7/Makefile.am
+ rm -rf libopts-32.0.7

No error message or anything. Does anyone know if there is a problem with the last stage3? I used a md5sum in it and it's not corrupt. I'm installing from another Ubuntu installation. It's the first time I have this amount of problems while installing Gentoo. I started from the stage3 again and I run into the same problems

Any idea?

I'm using stage3-i686-20090915.tar.bz2. I will try with an older one you are using to see if it works. Would you recommend I use an amd64 stage3? I have 64 bit processor.
