Morning all.

I've been asked for a caching (Squid!) and filtering (Squid + SquidGuard!) solution; the one caveat is that it must have a user friendly interface of some sort for reports. Now, as Squid just pumps out text file logs, it'd be easy enough for me to build a simple web-based system around it if need be, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any especially good tools already out there?

Thanks.

[1] and [2] come to my mind.

can you image anything more "user-friendly" than text-based
i use squid and dansguardian, and for reporting and aggregation for both of these i use webalizer, calamaris, squid-graph (all in portage) and scalar (http://scalar.risk.az/scalar095/scalar.awk) ; i once used squid's own cgi-based interface but it's monitoring-/performance-oriented and security-wise recommended against.
while i don't know your intended audience and your programming-skillZ i think these are definitely worth a look at; squid-graph and scalar are interesting but not really serious in a productive way (i'm still always amazed at what can be done with awk). webalizer and calamaris put out nice grahpic aggregations w/out omitting technical details (that I i am interested in as the tech maintainer of services and networks). calamaris can be configured very flexibly.
GOOD LUCK!

Aiming at a non-techy audience, absolutely :P

While I personally will find the text output far more useful, they want to see pretty graphs and tables that give them the gist of things rather than the fine detail. I'll try the three suggestions mentioned though, thanks guys.
