|
|
Hi, All...
I tried to launch and use app-misc/screen on one of my gentoo machines, only to discover that the default key bindings didn't work.
Would anyone have a suggestion as to how these key bindings can be enabled??
Thanks! _________________ "Primum non nocere" ---Galen

check ~/.screenrc and /etc/screenrc
And of course, man screen _________________ The End of the Internet! |

Those configuration files are the same on my affected machine as on my machines in which Screen operates flawlessly with key-bindings...
Perhaps I wasn't specific, enough. On my affected machine, and while in a Screen terminal, I'm unable to use any of the commands that are prompted by "control-a". When I key-in "C-a K", my screen terminal doesn't kill, but rather, I just receive command line output of the letter "K". The same for the other "control-a" commands...
I guess, it's an issue of incorrect binding of the "'control" key with the "a" key.
Do you have any thoughts about this??

well, what's your TERM set to outside screen?
Inside screen, if you type cat, and then ^A, does the 'cat' actually receive something?
Try screen -X escape "^Aa" inside your screen session( ^A is actually one character, you usually can have it by doing ^V^A ) _________________ The End of the Internet! |

Hi truc,
if I type:
Code: | screen -X escape "^Aa" |
Then the ^A key binding starts to work.
My term is set to: "vt102" outside of screen... What should the TERM be set to (and how should I set it) to get the keybindings to work by default? _________________ "Primum non nocere" ---Galen |

The problem was solved by commenting out the line in the .screenrc which changed the command character. _________________ "Primum non nocere" ---Galen |
