whenever i try to open an openoffice program (i.e. Writer) the OpenOffice.org 1.0 screen pops up and then it takes 3 minutes before I get the program. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

What sort of a machine are you running it on? Openoffice does take ages to open,
but not 3 minutes. Unless your running on a Pentium 166 or something??
For me takes maybe 20-30 seconds on an Athlon-XP 2600+ |

If you have a slower system you may want to try abiword and gnumeric, i use those even on my XP2100.
