I would like to know how people who are really paranoid about security use this protocol. Do you just use proxies on a certain client and if so know a good site with a proxy list? I have heard others saying they SSH to a remote location and irc from there. Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks! |

IRC servers check for public proxies and ban them to prevent attacks.
If you want to be paranoid, you need to get a shell account somewhere, various companies offer this, you can then run a bouncer such as muh, or ssh to your shell and run an irc client there, as you said.
Alternatively there's iip ( http://www.invisiblenet.net/iip/index.php ) which is an irc network that uses a mixmaster system to protect its users. |

Some IRC servers are actually on to it and support SSL connections to it. Only a few clients (like kvirc) support it, but I wouldnt use it any other way |
