Hey guys,

I wondered if you could gimme a hand. I'm trying to get a "xfce4-fluxbox" hybrid on my Gentoo install. I.e. i have perfect keyboard shortcuts already defined for fluxbox so instead of setting up another WM/DE from the scratch, i'd rather use fluxbox as a WM and xfce to do the rest.

The problem is, startxfce4 (which is a script) calls xfce4-session (which is binary), which in turn starts xfwm4. The problem is that I do want to start xfce4-session since it gives me those nice power management buttons (and I don't have to su to shut down my computer xD) but I don't want it to call xfwm4. I'd rather it called fluxbox.

Well, of course I can symlink /usr/bin/xfwm4 to /usr/bin/fluxbox but that's not the point...

Can you help me out? (or am I being not clear?)

Yes and no... It is a good workaround - but I want something..you know like edit a config file and have it permanent. Because if I have to flush my .cache/session (or whatever folder is that), I'll lose this
"setting". Nevertheless - thanks :D

EDIT: I tried that but a strange thing happens. I have two panels - one on the upper part of the screen and one (just with the workspace switcher on the bottom). When I log in (i have fluxbox as a one of the startup programs) everythings fine but the lower panel starts to flicker.. :?:

EDIT 2: And running xfce4-panel from terminal after killing it first complains about Generic Event Extension missing... blah blah blah which is rather harmless...
