ok im trying to install gentoo once again and when i try and run "emerge sync" it gives me this temporary failure in name resolution or something any ideas>? i REALLY want to get this installed soon.... |

Do you have your DNS servers listed in /etc/resolv.conf ? |

Do you remember doing this :
Code: | # cp /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf |
before you entered the chroot environment ?
You can check from inside the chroot like this :
Code: | # cat /etc/resolv.conf |

You shouldn't need to copy it again unless your DNS servers changed recently.
What do you get for results from these commands :

ahh thanks for the helpp turns out when i did cp /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf
i accidently put a "E" on the second resolv.conf....so it was looking for a file that wasnt there. but i renamed it so its doin its thing now....thanks again. |
