Hi!
Seems to be a bad week for my configuration...
Today I turned on my computer and got a coffee. When I came back I found the kdm login screen completely frozen, mouse and keyboard didn't react. I rebooted and noticed the mouse reacting slower and slower until it freezed again, the harddisk still was very busy. OK, rebooted again, switched via Alt F1 into a (also very unresponsive) console and looked via top what was going on. I saw spamd with a memory consumption of 80% of my 256 MB and eating 20% of my cpu. Those values growed until the system locked up. Booted again switched to console and killed spamd via killall -9 spamd ... here I am, system runs as before (now, of course without spamd).
Has anybody seen this behaviour before?
Frank
Edit: Forgot to mention, SpamAssassin 2.60, will try to downgrade to 2.55-r1, as suggested by emerge -Dup world
Edit 2: OK, that helped! Next time, I promise, I'll take suggested downgrades more serious ![Wink ;)](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Hi,
I have the same problem here, but now with dev-perl/Mail-SpamAssassin-2.60-r1. And there is no suggestion to downgrade this one. The odd thing is that I have it running since Oct 2003 and had no problem so far.
So has anyone an idea what to do (except downgrading) ?
Thanks.

you can always emerge the latest
version in portage, 2.63, which is
marked as unstable, though might
fix your problem. |

Ok, remerging perl and than executing
Code: | /usr/portage/dev-lang/perl/files/libperl_rebuilder |
as emerge perl said, solved it for me.
Now it works, but still I don't know what the problem was. |
