I know this has been discussed a bunch of times and i am sorry if i was any administrators time by making them lock this or moving it to another forum.
with so many people wanting binary packages i started looking for a way to build packages and start a repository. all i came up with is ebuild <pkg> package but that will merge the bins into my system and since i dont necessiarly want those bins with those flags and use settings thats not really something that is gonna work. I thought about the rpm command with ebuild and then rpm2tgz it but its been said that ebuild pakage puts in different information than goes into the rpm so thats not really ideal either. It was also suggested that i creat a chroot system for this, not a bad idea i think i may have to do that but i really dont like the idea of having to have a chrooted system just to build packages. so i welcome any suggestions how to go about this and i suggest an option be added to portage to not merge the binary packages when doing ebuild <pkg> package. |

If you know this has been already been discussed, why did you post anyway? _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
