Hi all, I am having lots of fun tinkering with gentoo...I am trying to install it as a VM machine but am not having any luck...The only way I can get it to work is if I use a physical drive in VM...I dont want to do this for many reasons so am trying to use a VD. No matter what I do I cant find or create a VD...Its not listed under /dev so fdisk is not working...I have tried the stupid VMWare knowledge base but it doesnt help much so i thought id try here...This is probably a really simple question and I dont normally have this much trouble ...Can someone help

As soon as I posted it I realised what the problem was...VMware uses SCSI for its VD...just had to add doscsi option to kernel at boot...sorry to waste your time... |

I tried to use the Virtual IDE drive but then the machine hung when i tried to emerge sync... well not a freeze actually but i¨t stopped downloading after a few seconds... when i changed to SCSI everything worked... I had to type modprobe BusLogic to get the scsi going...
I'm gonna try KDE in VM _________________ ... and we will show Microsoft, that they cannot take whatever they want. And that Free Software is our software! |
