|
|
i recently installed kde 4.3 and it was working fine. So then i decided to remove all of the old 3.5 libraries and now when i start kde its just a blank white screen with no menus or icons. Ive googled and searched the forums and have had no luck in finding a solution. i had removed ~/.kde4 with no luck. i have re-emerge a few kde packages. Is this a known issue? someone please help! |

Just want to make sure that you run the update properly.. Have you done something trivial like below:
Code: | #emerge --depclean
#revdep-rebuild
#emerge -DNupv world |
Also, check /var/log/portage/elog/* and make sure you didn't miss anything like revdep-rebuild --some_library or lafixfile .
Edit: lafilefixer, thanks

Quote
or lafixfile .
That should be lafilefixer
To use it Code: |
lafilefixer --justfixit |
Gerard.
Edit: Use lafilefixer before revdep-rebuild. _________________ To install Gentoo I use sysrescuecd.Based on Gentoo, has firefox to browse Gentoo docs and mc to browse (and edit) files.

If you are using an old nvidia driver (like 96.*), and have composite enabled, then you need to put Code: | Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true" | in your xorg.conf. _________________ emerge --quiet redefined | E17 vids: I, II | Now using kde5 | e is unstable :-/ |
