Buondì.
Ho appena installato gentoo (amd64 e non ~amd64).
Il mouse è ingestibile: nel senso che lo sportamento lungo l'asse X è corretto, riguardo l'asse Y è "superveloce"  .
Inoltre è come se vi fossero anche dei "click" random; rendendo praticamente inutilizzabili gli ambienti grafici.
Ho provato tramite tastiera usando gnome ad impostare la minima velocità e minima accelerazione ma senza risultati.
Il problema lo riscontro anche in solo text mode se attivo gpm.
Lo stesso dispositivo funziona correttamente su altri os ed anche sulla ~amd64 che ho installata in altra partizione.
Cosa potrei controllare/verificare ?

forse non riconosce il protocollo adatto al tuo mouse (mouse vecchio?).
man mousedrv o man mouse per approfondimenti sui protocolli.
per passare il protocollo corretto (o altro parametro) devi usare xorg.conf oppure configurare adeguatamente hal.
leggi /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-x11-input.fdi pre trovare gli esempi. i file vanno poi collocati in /etc/hal/fdi/policy.

Mah... ho fatto un po' di prove cambiando protocollo in xorg.conf basandomi su quelli descitti in man mousedrv

però.. nessuno mi da risultati
Anche riducendo al minimo l'opzione "Sensitivity".. nessuna variazione apprezzabile.
Comunque al di là di hal o xorg, già anche con l'uso di gpm in console, il mouse è inusufruibile.
Al chè... ecco che riprovo con ~amd64.
E tutto funziona: audio, 3d, mouse, bluetooth, printer; con kernel 2.6.31 funziona anche la webcam (mi mancherebbe da testare la scheda tv).
non so cosa dire....
Potrebbe quindi dipendere da qualche pacchetto che nella versione della amd64 "litiga" con l'hardware mio pc ?
Però.. quale o quali potrebbero essere ?
Riguardo la regola in /etc/hal/fdi/policy , non saprei come "muovermi".
