startx and startx with exec startkde in the .xinitrc works
X and kdm shows me a quick flash of the nvidia logo then a black screen.
When I check Xorg.0.log I get the following:
Code: | Backtrace:
0: /usr/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x38) [0x8129530]
Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting |
Trying to run KDE 4.3.3 and nvidia-drivers 190.42

Do you have DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm" in /etc/conf.d/xdm ? |

Yes. Starting KDM from the command line or adding it to xdm and starting the init.d script both fail the same way.
Sorry I should have been clear on that. |

Solved my issue and it was not related to the video drivers like I thought.
I had found multiple threads saying that the signal 11 error I was getting was due to having the wrong drivers, but all those referenced ati.
I just commented out the vnc line and the KDM screen came up when started.
Which VNC version is compatable with KDE-4.3.3? Cause apparently tigervnc-1.0.0-r1 is not. |
