|
|
Hi everyone...
After a general update of my Portage tree (portage-20091108), i found that KDE is completely masked for SPARC, so i must unmerge KDE 3.5.10 for a clean world update.
And i can see that there is no KDE 4 development for SPARC.
So... what can we expect now about KDE on SPARC?... Should SPARC KDE-lovers sit and wait or cry forever?
Is XFCE a good alternative?
I hate Gnome... (one of USE flags is "-gnome" in /etc/make.conf)
Thanks. _________________ Charly Tango

To emerge, or not to emerge: that is the question.

x11-libs/qt-webkit SIGBUS'd on sparc, which was fixed only yesterday, and it's a prereq for KDE4.
now that it's fixed, KDE4 *will be* keyworded for ~sparc.
and I'm also maintaining Xfce4, so I can warmly recommend it for the meantime |

That's really good news.
Have you an idea of when, approximatively, it'll be keyworded ? Just to know when my next update will occur _________________ Marsupial Power Inside

It might take a while considering our sparc team is about one man team at the moment (not me). But if you want definite answers, ask around in #gentoo-sparc on Freenode. |

FYI kde-4.3.3 has been marked ~sparc.
I'll try to stabilize it next week. |

Thought i should update the status on this...i asked to drop sparc keywords from kde because i'm alone on the sparc team and i can't keep up with something as big as kde. |
