I'm having a problem compiling OpenOffice-3.1.1...

I've tried 3 times, done a revdep-rebuild and update my system with --newuse --update --deep and still i can't get it compiled...

I've changed the CFLAGS and MAKEOPTS to -j1 and still no luck...

here is part of my error:

Code:

I don't think that causes your problem but CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS you use look strange:
feiticeir0 wrote:

Code:

CFLAGS="-march=k8-sse3 -mtune=native -O2 -pipe -msse4.1 -fopenmp"
CXXFLAGS="-O2 -pipe"

And chceck if you don't run out of diskspace/ indodes/ whatever that make it impossible to generate more files ( happend to me when I was bulding Open Office, I don't remeber if error was similar).

Hi !

Thx for the call..

my CFLAGS you pointed out are my usual, but since OpenOffice is so picky about them, i've reduced just to -march=k8-sse3 when compiling it !

With your post it came to my attention that probably when copying and reducing the CFLAGS i accidentally remove my CXXFLAGS.... 8O

I've added now and at this moment OpenOffice is compiling... let's just wait and see

About the CFLAGS

-march=k8-sse3 is for my processor : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ with sse3
-march=native : is for optimizations and for gcc above 4.3.3 (or something like that)
-02 : optimizations
-msse4.1 : is a typo... my processor doesn't support it :lol:
-fopenmp : i've read is for the applications that support it, for dual processing

probably isn't all right, but i've read it in gentoo wiki and some posts around the forum...

Cheers and thx for pointing out my mistake !!

OpenOffice is now compiling, let's just wait and see...

Didn't work...

But i've managed to compile openoffice.org using a small workaround such as export LDFLAGS=" -lrt " && emerge -av openoffice.org

Cheers,
