Hello Forum,
it has been a long time.
I've got a question. For a customer I need a Linux-System that is as minimalistic as possible.
The only two things it needs to do is offer NFS and SMB-Shares.
These shares reside on a USB_Harddisc which gets removed over nights and weekends for security reasons.
So: The two daemons are sharing the USB-hdd, somebody unplugs the hdd, and I need the two daemons
to stop.
Then somebody re-plugs in the hdd, and I need it to be automounted and the two daemons to get started.
How would I do that? I am sort of blank of ideas
Thanks for any hints in the right direction!

Well, for starters you want to make sure the disks are not mounted async, right?
Simplest way could be to use ivman, which can be configured to execute commands on specific hal events.
Or just make a script which runs very few seconds to check if the disks are connected or not, and then starts/stops samba accordingly. _________________ Gnome:
