OOo has always exported great PDFs for me, until today! :( I don't export them that often, so I couldn't say when it was last working, but I estimate four weeks ago. Anyway... the text formatting and layout all looks right, but it's shrinking the page size to fit the text! How bizarre! Fortunately, it's still working fine on my x86 laptop, it's just the amd64 desktop that has the issue. The bug sounds pretty weird to me, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I'm going to start by remerging poppler and whatever else takes my fancy, hoping to avoid remerging OOo itself. Thanks, cheers.

Edit: Changed subject

Did you do any upgrade in the pdf area recently (poppler, ghostscript, libpdf?)?
Did you run a revdep-rebuild -- -a?

Actually, I just realized that the problem is with Okular, although that's equally mystifying. Weird. I'm going to bed and hoping that it's magically solved by the morning.

Dang, it didn't fix itself. I've recompiled okular, poppler and poppler-qt4 to no avail.

Can anyone suggest any reason why it might be misbehaving and how to fix it??

You should open a bugzilla then or at least double check is there is one that is already open for that problem.

I'm not certain exactly what you mean but have you tried fiddling with some of the different options under Okular's "View" menu such as "Trim Margins". If "Trim Margins" is selected then the margins of the pdf page disappear and you get wall-to-wall text. The margins are gone even when you print. I suspect this might be your problem.

<sigh of relief> Thank you. :)

I don't ever recall turning that on, so I blame my cat for dancing across the keyboard at some inopportune time.
