is there a guide available how to convert an amd64 nonmultilib profile system to a multilib profile ?
correct me if im wrong, but ...
wine needs for win 32 bit binaries at least a minimal set of 32 bit packages or not ?
if there is any method to run win 32 bit binaries with wine under a non-multilib gentoo please give me some hints here ... _________________ Gigabyte P43-ES3G Rev. 1.0 Mainboard Ver. F14 Bios

SWAP??? Are you kidding me?

just a wild guess
switch to a 'normal' (non-multilib) profile, and do a rebuild (emerge -aDuN world)
cheers

If you want to do that you might want to rebuild gcc and glibc before everything else. Another alternative would be to setup a 32 bit chroot to install Wine in. |

the 32 bit chroot environment is exactly what i looked for, thanks guys ...
somebody should consider writing an installer for existing amd64 nonmultilib mashines to get the benefits of an easy manageable microsize 32 bit extra wine installation, that would be a popular project i think ... _________________ Gigabyte P43-ES3G Rev. 1.0 Mainboard Ver. F14 Bios

as far as i know the emulinux packages are precompiled, and there are guys (like me) which cant accept this fact so easy ...
it must be possible to create something like a toolchain with only the minimum on packages and their depencies that are necesary to run a 32 bit wine with all useflags compiled in. this "toolchain" should also handle like a normal gentoo system from the 64 bit side. (especially when it comes to updating the whole thing!)
ps: problem solved - im using now the chrooted 32 bit toolchain as a seperate installation, not ideal to handle because now i have 2 systems to manage but the smaller one has only the minimal world file ----> wine, xorg-x11, gentoolkit, (vanilla-sources and nvidia-drivers are just for the headers) _________________ Gigabyte P43-ES3G Rev. 1.0 Mainboard Ver.
