|
|
Hello, dear all,
Is it possible to make Firefox automatically pass opened magnet torrent links to Vuze? Now when I click on magnet link I get following error message: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (magnet) isn't associated with any program." Tried messing with about:config and defining custom protocol handler but with no success. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Same for me, I'm running KDE4 here and the about:config settings did nothing for me as well as the gconftool-2 commands as described by http://kb.mozillazine.org/Register_protocol .
I tried every guide I could get my hands on but it seems Firefox 3.5.5 is handling the protocol settings different from before or it is ignoring my attempts to change it... _________________ More ramblings of a linux junky... |

Found it: FF 3.5 no longer uses the about:config settings, nor the conftool-2 directives.
Instead you need to mark the protocol to be not exposed:
Code: |
about:config -> RMB -> New -> Boolean Value -> network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet -> False
|
No need to restart Firefox, just go to a site with a magnet link and click it. Firefox will pop up a dialog asking you how to deal with the magnet link. Point that to Azureus/Vuze and make sure to tick the "Remember this association" box.
