I'm currently testing out the new ventrilo client mangler, it all works well except for when a server uses the Speex codec.
The sound that it send by my microphone is horrid and when looking at the verbose log from libventrilo3 it makes sense why it sounds terrible.
libventrilo3: 18:59:47.383142: encoding 1280 bytes of PCM to SPEEX @ 32000
libventrilo3: 18:59:47.383146: using ultra-wide band
libventrilo3: 18:59:47.383189: starting frame processing for 5 frames
libventrilo3: 18:59:47.383194: encoding frame 0
libventrilo3: 18:59:47.383198: copying 1280 bytes from -1249702268 to -1249770480
libventrilo3: 18:59:47.383379: encoded size is 11 bytes (total 17) @ qual 10
The outgoing PCM stream is 1280 bytes but encodes to only 11 bytes when it should be returning 110 bytes.
I have talked to the mangler developers and i seems to be the only one with this problem,
i have tried to install both media-libs/speex 1.2_beta3_p2 and the 1.2_rc1 but with the same result.
So the question is, have someone else had a similar problem or have any input on how to fix it.
