When I hit a PHP page it shows me the code. This seems to have been brought on by an upgrade. I did change apache options

Code:

APACHE2_OPTS="-D NAGIOS -D DEFAULT_VHOST -D INFO -D SSL -D SSL_DEFAULT_VHOST -D LANGUAGE -D PHP5"

Do I need to add any other options?

I was once missing the module to handle file extensions, check the wiki here:
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Apache2/APACHE2_MODULES
Quote:
mime: Associates a filename's extension with its behaviour.

this disabled my apache using php...

User apache
Group apache

# Supplemental configuration
#
# Most of the configuration files in the /etc/apache2/modules.d/ directory can
# be turned on using APACHE2_OPTS in /etc/conf.d/apache2 to add extra features
# or to modify the default configuration of the server.
#
# To know which flag to add to APACHE2_OPTS, look at the first line of the
# the file, which will usually be an <IfDefine OPTION> where OPTION is the
# flag to use.
Include /etc/apache2/modules.d/*.conf

# Virtual-host support
#
# Gentoo has made using virtual-hosts easy. In /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/ we
# include a default vhost (enabled by adding -D DEFAULT_VHOST to
# APACHE2_OPTS in /etc/conf.d/apache2).
Include /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/*.conf

# vim: ts=4 filetype=apache

make.conf
Code:

APACHE2_MODULES="mime alias dir mime_magic status actions auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache negotiation rewrite setenvif speling unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias"

Same apache options.
