|
|
I'm migrating a server to a new system this weekend. The system itself is set up from scratch, it's just the data and (adjusted) configs that gets migrated. If I got it right, then baselayout-2 and OpenRC will become the default for Gentoo in a short time and I could start using it now. I'm now considering it for the new server because I think it would be harder to upgrade to baselayout-2 later and maybe breaking the system doing so (the installation will likely be running for a few years, updates included) than to use it from the beginning.
However, I don't know if baselayout-2 + OpenRC are already stable enough for use on a server system. Would you wait or prepare the system for it now? _________________ nohup nice -n -20 cp /dev/urandom /dev/null & |

Right now, I don't know when.

dispatch-conf will be able to handle the migration.
If it's a production server, you should stay will the stable arch. |

I would start using it now. _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

I agree with yngwin, however do not expect baselayout2 to be stable soon in the sense of "gentoo stable". |

It's upgraded now (everything went fine and the automatic conversions were all right). Thanks for your help! _________________ nohup nice -n -20 cp /dev/urandom /dev/null & |
