|
I'm sure I already know the answer to this, but...
If I partition the harddrive on a PS3, can I plug that into my laptop with a USB adapter and write to it in order to build Gentoo with ReiserFS support for / and keeping /boot ext4, which the old install cd didn't allow?
I'm sure I read somewhere that the PS3 partitions logically so my theory wouldn't work. _________________

The PS3 encrypts its hard drive. |

So what you're saying is that it DOESN'T partition physically? It's simple a logical or other type of software partition? _________________

The partitions are controlled by the hypervisor. The hypervisor encrypts the drive, both the GameOS and OtherOS partition. If you pull it out, you will not be able to read it in another machine. If you install something on the hard drive ahead of time, it will be reformatted when inserted. |
