hello i've emerged webmin successfully but when i try to start it with /etc/init.d/webmin start i get

Code:
 * Starting webmin...
/sbin/runscript.sh: line 11: /etc/webmin/start: file or directory not found

i had webmin running without problems on my prior gentoo install with the same configuration. any ideas on that?

Have you run the setup script for webmin? I believe it's in /usr/libexec/webmin/setup.sh or something similar. Emerge gentoolkit and use 'qpkg -l' to find all files installed by webmin, or just go to the above directory and ls *.sh.

this is _very_ strange. the first time i've setup gentoo i just emerged webmin and started it with /etc/init.d/webmin start. no setup at all! i've never seen this setup script before. is it only in the new version? well but it works, thank you :-)

I've come across this, mainly when I'm installing from my old existing Gentoo installation. I just re-emerge it when I boot in too my just installed new Gentoo and then /etc/init.d/webmin start.
