Ok, it's not a good title for a topic but I don't know how to call it...
Little description: I'm trying to install various software under wine. I installed times ago and use them until 2 days ago since I got some errors (that I don't remember) then I think to reinstall the "corrupted" software. Nope. when I try to install it I get some errors like
Quote:
Directory C:\windows\system32\setup\aladdin not accessible. Administrator requires Write access forin this directory.
ErrorCode: 47 4 1300 0

in another
Quote:
File processing error.
ErrorCode: 12, 4 771 3

for this one I can read only this on xterm
Quote:
err:winedevice:ServiceMain driver L"Hardlock" failed to load
fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x12b0e8 0x32fb20) stub!
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
err:cabinet:FDICopy FDIIsCabinet failed.
err:cabinet:FDICopy FDIIsCabinet failed.
err:cabinet:FDICopy FDIIsCabinet failed.
fixme:setupapi:CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents 0
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub

Both those program are in a compressed archive and are started from file-roller (yeah it's not so smart but I can't start from a normal uncompressed folder.

I remove and recreate with winecfg the .wine folder yet but nothing change.

Anyone has a minimal idea of a possibly solution?

Thanks!

Did you check the permissions of ~/.wine/drive_c/ ?

If you updated wine since it last worked try the usual:

1. Search the App DB for your program.

2. wineboot to "reboot Windows" (autostart programs may pop up after a short while).

3. Check the wine version it last worked on, maybe upgrading wine to the newest (maybe unstable) version or downgrading to the one you think it could have worked on (check with genlop wine for versions and merge dates). wine has serious issues with regressions; most programs or games work for a few releases, then suddenly stop working after an update, get fixed a few versions later and so on...

4. Try a different version of the software you try to install/use.

Another idea: Do you have that software installed on a filesystem other than Ext or Reiser? For instance, partitions mounted with NTFS-3G won't always work correctly.

drive_c permissions are set to 755.
The amazing thing is that i havn't update wine before it refuse to run my softwares, however App DB report version 1.1.33 as "Gold" now I reinstall wine and hope for better result.
wineboot and different version of software doesn't change things (but I'll try some more time, who knows...)
About FS, .wine folder is placed on Reiserfs and some application setup (.exe) are in Reiser4 (no comment I'll change it soon...)

Version 1.1.33 installed, nothing change.

Okay, after 3 days wasted on attempt to "repair" wine I hav no more ideas (except for reinstall the entire system from scratch that isn't my favorite way for obvious reasons...)
I can't believe that my only way out is to use a virtualmachine (same job take about 4 hrs on virtualbox when in wine take only 1hr).

God Larry (the Cow) save me one more time!
