Hi!

So, I have an nVidia mainboard with the following sound card:
00:07.0 Audio device: nVidia corporation MCP67 High Definition Audio (rev a1)

I use the (own compiled) kernel drivers for audio, I have sound, however the alsamixer identifies my card as:
Card: HDA NVidia
Chip: Realtek ALC268

And the alsaconf cannot be configured, because it doesn't find any appropriate sound cards and exists with the message: No legacy drivers are available.

I have two kernel modules for nVidia sound: snd-ac97-codec, snd-intel8x0
I installed just the following according to the sound:
#emerge alsa-utils

My questions are:
(1) Is it dangerous to use the sound card so?
(2) What can I do to get working also alsaconf properly?

Thanks in advance:
Fromm

Hi, can you do this :

Code:

# cd /usr/src/linux
# make menuconfig

Go inside the sound section and post what you have enabled.

You are not using the right driver I think.
