Hi
I have a multiboot operating system and I have been trying to get gnome-disk-mounter in gentoo to allow me to mount other partitions manually as I have been able to with ubuntu. When I boot into ubuntu I am offered the choice of mounting and subsequently unmounting gentoo (and other partitions) and this works fine. I have looked in /etc/fstab in ubuntu and there does not seem to be an entry for /dev/sda5 which is the partition which I have gentoo installed on. The information on gnome-disk-mounter seems sketchy but it does say is that you need a corresponding entry in fstab but as I have said ubuntu seems to work fine without this. I have tried pretty well every combination of mount options in fstab that I can think of, without success.
Any suggestions please.

I had the same problem today (pretty fresh install).
What helped me (I'm not sure which one) was :
- add your user to plugdev group
- copy hal policy and reboot computer :
Code: | cp /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/20-storage-methods.fdi /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ |

Thanks for that, 'cp /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/20-storage-methods.fdi /etc/hal/fdi/policy/'. Did the trick, works great now.
