Was cleaning yesterday, found this old thing in a box, and thought, "Hey, I bet this is breakable."
Anyone tried putting Gentoo on a PocketPC or have any words of wisdom for me before I get going on this? I've been trying to dig up some information about putting Linux on these guys, but with handhelds.org down there just isn't much out there. On the bright side, I'm decently familiar with Gentoo, so I'm hoping this will make a decent starting point.
Thanks in advance :) |

i installed gentoo on an IPAQ 4150 ( booting with haret from a sd card, native booting isnt possible afaik), armvte5 too.
Problem will probably be kernel sources because as you say the sources at handhelds arent available anymore, try with the sources in linuxtogo, last time i checked ( which was long ago btw) they were in more or less decent shape.
problematic was building the root system, i remember a lot of troubles building python, busybox and a few other ones i dont remember right now, hopefully things have changed.
i did this just for fun, this pda still is somewhere in my home but i havent touched it for a while, i dont even know if this thing still works ...
enjoy |
