|
|
Hi
I'm currently experiencing some problems with the gnome-settings-daemon. The daemon seems to crash on gnome startup which results in a destroyed theme, other keyboard layout settings, missing icons and gnome-keyring-daemon and metacity are consuming each 100% cpu.
If I run the settings-daemon on the cli (in non-daemon mode) or starting a gnome app (keyboard config for example) the settings are loaded and everyhting seems to be fine (except of metacity and the keyring-daemon).
As i can remember, this problems started after a update of the settings-daemon to the current unstable version. I tried to downgrade but I experienced some problems with the updated libxrandr.
As said, I'm using the unstable tree on amd64. Help would be appreciated |

I'm having the same problem, running stable (2.26.1-r2). Starting a gnome app doesn't fix anything for me though, but rather kills x, and everything is fine when I startx again. I'm not sure how to "run settings-daemon on the cli," so haven't tried that.
The problem is intermittent, only happening once every 5-10 boots, or so. _________________ Core2Duo T7100 1.8 ghz mini-itx, Nvidia FX220: Gentoo/Gnome/CompizFusion:XGL

I was able to fix the problem by recompiling dev-libs/glib with with more conservative CLFAGS (I used only "-O2 -pipe"). Hope this can help you |
