Well System is an AthlonXP 2400+, and was running fine with the gaming-sources kernel.

When I went to add the nvidia drivers, i noticed that my kernel was set to Pentium3? So I changed it to AthlonXP.

Now it won't boot.

Do the gaming sources not support the AthlonXP CPU type in the kernel? If not, what would be the ideal choice? Seems like Pentium3 wouldn't be the best setting for an athlon XP... ;)

I'm running gaming and athlonXP, so for me at least it works. My question is; when you say you "changed" your kernel to AthlonXP, what was the process you used?

you can boot the computer using the CD, rebuild your kernel with XP, being sure to
Code:
make dep

after you get your kernel.

Hope this helps.

Yes I know I can boot to the CD and redo the kernel, just can't do that remotely atm ;)

Basically I did a make menuconfig and then went into CPU options and switched it from P3 to athlon xp, then saved the configuration and did a full make with modules and all, then copied the bzImage over to /boot.

Box never came back up after the reboot.

hmm....did you remember to
Code:
mount /boot

before copying the bzImage? I've forgotten that one more than once!
