|
|
Hi All:
I have migrated over to XFce4 from KDe 3.5-10 and am generally pleased with things. I've also made the move to Opera which is much more snappy response and speed wise compared to Seamonkey and firefox....with one hiccup.
Printing.
Opera printing is absolute crap. The pages are all compressed size wise and I can't print to pdf.
It seems to be using cups but there is noting in spooler for my pdfs and the printing to the priinter is horrible.
i'm keeping seamonkey-bin around just for printing but I'd really like to sort this out. I've got internet banking working with opera and printing is the last hurdle to sort out.
Any ideas?
cheers,
John

Hi All:
Ok, I feel like a COMPLETE nob but here is part of the solution.....
Right, when you select print in Opera there is a tab that says Options. In that tab I had the "scale to Print" set to 80% but I also has "fit to paper width' selected so, silly me, assumed that the printing would expand to fit to the paper.... it didn't. So, the printing was all in the upper right hand corner of the page.
I set the "scale to print" to 100% and this problem has gone away.
I'm still not quite sure what "Fit to paper width" means in Opera-Speak but that'd minor.
the only thing left to do is figure out why printing to my virtual printer (pdf) only works form seamonkey and won't work from Opera.....that's for another day, I have work to do now.
Cheers,
john |
