Hi,
I want make my car unique and would like to create a *secondary* controlling unit. Following hardware is already available:
15" TFT
ELO graphics Touch-glass (surface wave technology)
Follwing hardware will be bought if I succeed in creating a "touchscreen only management":
Intel ATOM 2x1.6GHz
2-3 Webcams (Front, Rear and Inside)
What I want
I am looking for a desktop which looks like "easy peasy"-ubuntu, with a onscreen keyboard.
So does anyone know which manager would be the best? I am giving Fluxbox + wmDock a try until someone has a better idea.
The best navigation would be one screen protion which has all the menus and which is not covered by any program, program which is already running will be brought to foreground if one taps on the menu. This type of navigation is not new (many palmsized devices have similar sort of navigation) and that is why I don't want to loose time in programming one.
Thanks. _________________ Sincerely your

Maybe you should take a look at what's used in openmoko...just a thought - I don't really know what's used there, but probably works just the way you want it to. |

I have been busy gathering hardware for the project.
@szczerb: I think openmoko is for mobile phones and/or pda.
So the configuration is as following:
- Pentium 4 3GHz HT
- 512MB DDR
- 250GB 2.5" disk drive
- Slimline DVD drive
- 7" LCD touchscreen (www.cartft.com)
- 12-16V powersupply 160Watts
- Gentoo (oh wonder)
- Matchbox-wm, matchbox-keyboard (on screen keyboard).
I have installed openrc, took out some rc-scripts (such as keymap, netmount, consolefonts).
Is there any other scripts which are not "critical" which I can remove?
Is there any advantage if coldplug and hotplug is disabled (all necessary modules are compiled in)?
Is there any advantage if modules script is removed?
Thanks. _________________ Sincerely your
