|
|
I'm trying to install Gentoo, using the 1.4 Athlon XP Live CD, and it doesn't recognize my Serial ATA hard drive. This is the only hard drive in my system, so I need the install CD to recognize it. Is there some kind of instruction that I need to pass at the initial boot prompt to get it to recognize this hard drive? Something else I need to do that I'm not aware of? Here's the vitals on my hardware setup, in case they are important:
Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton Core)
ASUS A7N8X Mobo
2x 512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
GeForce4 Ti4600 w/128 MB RAM
120 GB Maxtor DiamondMax SATA HD
52x CD-RW
16X DVD-ROM
Floppy
Thanks for any help!

hi zinzarin,
I have very similar specs to you and i have just today installed Gentoo using the Athlon 1.4 CD. I used the "doataraid" switch at boot time but i not sure if this is really nessesary as i only have the 1 sata drive. The CD successfuly found the HDD and i have partitioned it and installed gentoo on to it. My only problem now is I cant get it to boot. It will boot into Windows XP using lilo but not Gentoo.
Hope this helps
