So the fan on my GPU kicked the bucket this morning and locked everything up when it overheated so I had to power down. After taking the cover off my box, removing the fans power supply, reinserting the card and rebooting, I'm getting all kinds of error messages so I'll address the networking ones first.
These are the errors I get:
Code: |
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface. No such device
SIOCSIFBRADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device
SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device
* Failed to bring up eth0

And as a result of this all my network services were unable to be started as well. I don't know what the issue is because everything was running perfectly until this morning and I don't see how a video card lockup could cause networking issues. I appreciate your help with all this.
Cheers,
Jon |

If it's any help at all -- I did an 'emerge -u world' the other day which downloaded the new kernel sources but I made no changes to my working configuration. After the emerge I was informed that there were some config files that needed to be modified and I did that and everything worked fine. I've rebooted a few times since then with no issues -- the issues arose after I removed and reinserted my GPU.
Thanks,
