Hey everyone. I'm absolutely baffled by this. I just recently did a new install of Gentoo. I'm using Fluxbox, and use GTK applications such as Firefox and Thunderbird. Not infrequently, while I'm in the course of using these applications, they will suddenly disappear. If I click on the program in Fluxbox's taskbar over and over again, I'll see the window flicker on the screen for a moment, but I can't ever see it and use it again. Has this happened to anyone else?

It's not just GTK applications. I've since narrowed down the problem a little bit. Say I have three windows minimized. If I start clicking on them all randomly, eventually one of them will disappear and exhibit the above-mentioned behavior. I discovered that if I go to the fluxbox menu and click on "reload fluxbox", I'll gain access to the window again.
Very strange!

I use fluxbox1.1.1-r1 and I have never seen this behavior.
My USE flags are (imlib nls slit toolbar truetype xinerama -gnome -vim-syntax).
It sounds like the window is positioned off-screen and that you need to move the window back on screen.
Or, you could have 'shaded' it, does the 'titlebar' stay? If so, double click the title bar to 'unshade' it.
Or, you could try right clicking the toolbar icon and 'maximise' the window.
Regardless, you seem to have found a workaround - reloading fluxbox - which is not a huge impact to running applications. _________________ ...Lyall |
