The regular and experimental bit torrent guis are horrid imo:

I decided to clean them up so they look like this:
[img:95035a6694]http://www.ruinedsoft.com/bt/after1.png[/img:95035a6694]
[img:95035a6694]http://www.ruinedsoft.com/bt/after2.png[/img:95035a6694]
[img:95035a6694]http://www.ruinedsoft.com/bt/after3.png[/img:95035a6694]
I have submitted the changed file to bit torrent's experimental cvs so it may be committed.
In the mean time, download btdownloadgui.py and replace your old one with this new one to try things out. It does require bittorrent's experimental version to be installed (emerge bittorrent-mxs) but other than that, I don't think there's anything specific necessary. _________________ www.ruinedsoft.com

nice, I like what you've done with this
however, it irks me that the 'less' button makes the window cover up the 'more' button, so I can't easily toggle between them. (maybe if 'more' was moved to the right side of the rating line?)
I also miss being able to quickly look and see how many peers/seeds are on, but I like having the smaller window. perhaps something abreviated would work for that.... anyway, just my opinions. good work.

Hrm, yeah, if you use a different theme font than i do, then you will have issues like that. I tried to just hide the controls, but wxpython doesn't quite work the way regular gtk does (automatically fitting to the shown controls). You can scan the code for the less and more button clicks and try and change the number to one that suits your theme better, but I guess that's about all I can do... =\
Thanks for the sugguestions. _________________ www.ruinedsoft.com

Sorry to go slightly OT, but do you have any ideas wht I can't connect to anyone or anything with BT?
I have shorewall, with port 6881-6999 open, along with 6969, as that is the one Bittorrent listens on according to the BT faq.
But I still get timeouts when trying to connect to a tracker, _________________ Face it, we are all noobs.
On the box it said it was designed for Win XP or better, so why won't it work with Linux? |

Trackers often listen on different ports (other than 6969) and commuicate via HTTP. (If you have some strange proxy set up, that might be an issue).
Try finding the tracker URL and see what port it needs. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
