After a week of struggling a managed to get my Sitecom wireless PCMCIA card to work.
Only problem I have is that I get an warning message during startup and an error message after reboot:
During boot:
cardmgr[...] executing ./network start eth0
cardmgr[...] * WARNING: "net.eth0" has already been started
After reboot:
cardmgr[...] * ERROR: "net.eth0" has not yet been started
How can I solve this problem?
Regards, Ruud. |

Did you added net.eth0 to the default run level? This should not be done for pcmcia devices since they are handled by the pcmcia system.
As root, try:
Code: | rc-update del net.eth0 |
Now, eth0 will be controlled by the pcmcia system and started automatically on boot and insertion. |

I get the same error messages running my wireless card as eth1. I net.eth1 in /etc/init.d/ but no symlink to it under /etc/runlevel/
The error messages appear when I plug and unplug my wireless pcmcia card as well as at start up. |

What do you mean by after reboot? During the boot after a reboot, or during the shutdown process to reboot?
I think the problem may be related to hotplug and pcmcia both trying to start the net.eth0 script. The bug here, https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28130, mentions this phenomenon. |

The message "... already started" is showing up during boot process. The error message "has not been started" is a message at shutdown.
I have enabled hotplug so that could be the case. I will remove this with rc-update. Maybe this helps.
