|
|
I currently use Mandrake Linux and have been meaning to try out Gentoo for a while, but I could not because I run on dial-up and it would've been way too impractical.
So I'm glad that Gentoo is now available on CD and I am about to order a set...
Just some questions: Are there any BIG differences between regular Gentoo and Gentoo from a CD? Is the installation procedure the same?
I'm a relative n00b to Linux, am I going to battle to get things like X running? A friend of mine just copied someone elses XFree conf files, is it difficult to get it going without doing that?
Well, I guess I could just order the CDs anyway and find out for myself! _________________ AMD AthlonXP 2500+

afaik its exactly the same, except you dont need to download the sources from the internet
Everyone battles with X and kernel config, but just look through the docs and these forums and all your questions/problems should already be solved
everyone has to walk the lonely halls of X and kernel config sometime, its a rite of passage... _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)
