from /etc/make.conf
# The main Gentoo Linux Portage server; specify a single Portage server.
#SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"
# An alternate download server if you prefer anoncvs. emerge dev-util/cvs
# for cvs support in emerge. The password for this CVS server is empty --
# just hit Enter.
#SYNC="cvs://:pserver:anonymous@gentoo.org:/home/anoncvs"
Ok. I'm behind a corporate firewall which doesn't allow not CVS nor RSYNC.
I managed to install gentoo using the portage-tree snapshot at the FTP but..
I suppose it would be a good idea to allow easier ways to sync the portage tree... |

There is a script in this thread that may help you:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=1556
A search of the forums with "rsync" and "firewall" would have gotten you this actually. |
