Running emerge -upDNt world gives me the following snippet:

Code:
[nomerge      ] x11-apps/xf86dga-1.0.2  USE="-debug"
[ebuild  N    ]  x11-libs/libXxf86dga-1.0.2  USE="-debug"
[ebuild  N    ]   x11-proto/xf86dgaproto-2.1
[blocks B     ] <x11-libs/libXxf86dga-1.0.99.1 ("<x11-libs/libXxf86dga-1.0.99.1" is blocking x11-proto/xf86dgaproto-2.1)

 * Error: The above package list contains packages which cannot be
 * installed at the same time on the same system.

('ebuild', '/', 'x11-libs/libXxf86dga-1.0.2', 'merge') pulled in by
    x11-libs/libXxf86dga required by ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-apps/xf86dga-1.0.2', 'merge')

For more information about Blocked Packages, please refer to the following
section of the Gentoo Linux x86 Handbook (architecture is irrelevant):

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?full=1#blocked

It seems that the packages are pulling in conflicts. I've tried uninstalling them, but that did not work.

emerge -q --sync

?

This has been going on for at least a week. I just ran it, same results one a emerge -upDN world (plus other packages that don't have to deal with X).

I ran into this and found that I had a mix of unstable and stable packages on a amd64 platform. I had to add:
    =x11-libs/libXxf86vm-1.1.0
    =x11-libs/libXxf86dga-1.1.1
    =x11-libs/libXinerama-1.1

to /etc/portage/package.keywords.

Now it is probably smarter to go through and remove some of the other unmasked packages so that you do not install a lot of unstable things. I think I am running here because of ATI drivers, but I also have a feeling that ATI drivers are not going to support this installation. I believe I read that. So I am probably just shooting myself in the foot. Still that is how I got beyond all of the blockages with those packages. I unfortunately have not updated in 5 months, so there is a lot of issues, but I am getting close to the bottom of the bucket.

Hope this might help you at least start in the right direction.

I glanced back through your packages.keywords and though I see x11-apps/xf86dga twice, I see no x11-libs/libXxf86dga. Now you may have a reason to want to unmask all of the packages and that is fine, but I am just stating that I do not condone it, even if I am doing it.
