I've been trying to install and run gnome, but X has no mouse/keyboard support when it runs...
I've been trying all that I could think of, but it's still trying to load a driver that I don't know about...
Code: |
# cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep '(EE)'
(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
(EE) Failed to load module "dri" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) Failed to load module "dri2" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) Failed to load module "evdev" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) No input driver matching `evdev'
(EE) config/hal: NewInputDeviceRequest failed (15)

What is evdev and how do I get the key/mouse support working?
It's not referenced in the xorg.conf anywhere at all... _________________ #define struct union /* A Real space saver! */ |

Found x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev in portage, that seemed to "help" a little... Strange that didn't show up in the dependency graph. Oh well.
Although now the mouse works, the keyboard is input is tripled...
For instance,
Code: |
# lllsss
# cccddd ///rrroooooottt
|
Not sure how to fix THAT .... =( _________________ #define struct union /* A Real space saver! */ |

You can try the old mouse and keyboard driver instead of evdev, it gave me a lot of trouble too. |

Tripled input problem is described well in the hal/evdev sticky.
You're a bit late - for the moment, it seems that 1.8 server will be released
in at most 2 months and it will use udev rules and/or a bit modified xorg.conf by default. |
