I have the following setup.
Windows 200 server with HPLaserJet 1100 shared.
Gentoo Desktop with Cups, Samba, etc
Unless I go in to the CUPS admin 127.0.0.1:631 and start the printer, I cant print. If I start it, it is fine. The printer seems to be stopped after rebooting. Don't know if it times out while still logged in.
Is there something I need to do in my smb.conf file or CUPS configuration to get it to start automagically?
let me know if you need any config files posted.
Thanks

Try running a ps auwx before and after the CUPS admin, and see if there is a new daemon process running; you may have to add something to /etc/runlevels to get CUPS to start correctly.
Otherwise - Samba shouldn't need anything; my guess is CUPS needs to be initialized. |
