I have a question regarding the installation of nvidia-kernel modules. When installing the nvidia-kernel package emerge fails with a message stating that mtrr support is not detected. I have a Verto Vanta PCI card plugged into an Asus XP55t2p4 with a pentium 233 mmx processor. The fact the fact that mtrr is not present on a pentium 233mmx system is not really a surprise. Is there a switch to overide this or am I stuck having to download the drivers from NVIDIA's website and trying to compile that way? Any help is appreciated. |

You can enable mttr-support in the kernel-config. I don't know what will happen, but you could give it a try. _________________ Groeten uit Holland |

Sorry I should have said this but the kernel does have mtrr support compiled in. |

Nvidia packages worked for any who are interested but XFree86 had to be built first. It's odd that mtrr is a requirement for the package since not all nvidia cards use agp/mtrr. There were a few pci cards. |
