Okay first when you compiled your kernel what sources are you using? _________________ If Windows is an OS made by professionals, and Linux is one by amateurs. Ponder this, Noah an amateur built the ark, professionals built the Titanic. |

Would you post the relevent sections from your XF86Config, like the modules section and the section on your video card? I am assuming that you followed the instructions in the docs on the desktop configuriation.
Here is my output from lsmod
Code: | $ /sbin/lsmod | grep nvidia
nvidia 1547648 10 |
Is this what you get or do you get the unused.
What hardware are you specifically using? |

The steps to get nvidia working were:
Code: | emerge nvidia-kernel
emerge nvidia-glx
echo "nvidia" > /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4
|
edit /etc/X11/XF86Config and uncomment "Load glx" and change the driver from "nv" to "nvidia".
Before you do any of that be sure to unload xdm via rc-update so you can fix any mistakes easily. _________________ If Windows is an OS made by professionals, and Linux is one by amateurs. Ponder this, Noah an amateur built the ark, professionals built the Titanic. |

Could you cut and paste it into a post? _________________ If Windows is an OS made by professionals, and Linux is one by amateurs. Ponder this, Noah an amateur built the ark, professionals built the Titanic. |

Can you post the results of your X logs that are stored in /var/log? Specifically any error messages. _________________ If Windows is an OS made by professionals, and Linux is one by amateurs. Ponder this, Noah an amateur built the ark, professionals built the Titanic. |

Any errors should occur towards the end of the file, and from what i've read about the nvidia.com packages, they should be the same as a emerge. _________________ If Windows is an OS made by professionals, and Linux is one by amateurs.
