|
|
Hi.
I have got an issue with VirtualBox 3.1.6 on 64-bit Gentoo Linux. Although remaining virtual machines seem to be running flawlessly, the one with EFI enabled always throws an unknown error complaining about being unable to find some file (Unknown error creating VM (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).) just after launch and refuses further operation.
Here goes the VirtualBox log:
Code: | 00:00:00.242 VirtualBox 3.1.6_OSE r59338 linux.amd64 (Mar 29 2010 18:42:29) release log

I have tried switching other features on/off, yet not successfully. If this issue might be caused by the lack of some x86 libraries, than it is probably that. I would be thankful, if somebody posted the listing of all emulation libraries needed for the proper VirtualBox operation. My Gentoo multi-library installation is not a typical one and I would not be amazed if it turned out it lacks some packages. Could somebody try enabling EFI on a true multilib installation, and report whether it works?
Output of "paludis --info app-emulation/virtualbox-ose"
Emerge --info might be not accurate, since I am using paludis
Output of "emerge --info app-emulation/virtualbox-ose"
I tried getting help on the VirtualBox forums, but I was completely ignored, hope this time it will go better |

copy VirtualBox-3.2.0_OSE/src/VBox/Devices/EFI/FirmwareBin/VBoxEFI* to /usr/lib/virtualbox-ose and you should get EFI support . I'm adding a bug report for it right now too. |
