Hello!
I like to use Mercury for MSN chat, but I can't install it in Gentoo.
That's the third time I install Gentoo (problems and few time to take care of them). In other installation I used "tar zxvf mercury-messenger-1.9.5.tar.gz -C /some-place-i-dont-remember-where-is" (after converted the .deb package to a .tar.gz package) and that worked great.

in case no-one can help with this issue, check out http://gentoo-portage.com/net-im with the complete list of portage packages for gentoo instant messaging. look through the list and try some alternatives to your favorite chat messenger. |

I got it!
I converted the .deb to a tar.gz using deb2targz, then i ran:
tar xzf mercury-version.tar.gz -C /
|
